[OneShot] Left Unsaid

Title: Left Unsaid
Pairings: Yunho/Jaejoong
Rating: PG

“What are we?”

Yunho lifts his bloodshot eyes from the paperback he really should have finished by now, perhaps startled more by the question then the sudden presence of someone so familiar and uninvited all at the same time it makes the dim room sing with tension and dilemmas.

Thoughts tumble clumsily into words but his throat closes up and refuses to squeeze them out. They taste like broken glass.

His fingers absent-mindedly trace the edges of musty pages. Yunho has always loved the smell of ink on paper, maybe it’s because it reminds him of days long ago as a student with big dreams and messy teeth.

The last rays of straggling sun filter in through the broken Venetian blinds. Whorls of dust are dancing pixie gold and everything looks somewhat devastatingly romantic. In another heartbeat, Yunho would have reached for him. Whispering lips against cool flesh, crooked fingers entwined and glazed eyes. It all feels like a lifetime away, but he never forgets.

Jaejoong stays slumped by the doorway, hesitant, gaze almost shy. Yunho however can see the steel wound tight in his jaw and kindling frustration that escapes in a small, tired sigh.

What are they?

“They do not love that do not show their love. The course of true love never did run smooth. Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love.”

“Shakespeare.” Jaejoong’s tone is flat but Yunho sees the dredges of a smile.

It isn’t just Shakespeare, why/iloveyou/please/ineedyou.

Instead, Yunho listens to the fading footsteps and tries to stop the yearning.
